The ESS, Inc. MRTP thermal platform systems rely upon a closed loop mechanical refrigeration cooling system. This eliminates the need for expendable refrigerants such as liquid nitrogen and liquid carbon dioxide.
Achieving temperatures from -60°C to 130°C just became accessible from the table-top! Our New Benchtop MRTP combines our unprecedented ability to integrate cascade condensing cooling into useable configurations with the convenience of your most commonly used laboratory surface, the desktop. The ESS Metal Cryogenic Hardening System is an elegant solution to cryo treatment of long strips of metal such as reels of razor blade. With capability to efficiently maintain cooling at -80°C this closed loop system provides a cost effective solution eliminating the expense and hassle of using expendable refrigerants in the cryo hardening process.
Cascade Condensers can be supplied for heat removal applications ranging from 100 watts to 4 kW with a saturated suction temperature (SST) of -86° C.
The ESS, Inc. Space Simulation Thermal Chamber or SSTC has been developed to allow simultaneous thermal vacuum testing of electronic components that may be heated and cooled by direct conduction.
ESS offer a safe and dependable method for working with reagents and samples requiring controlled temperatures from 150°C down to -80°C and below. These platforms are available in configurations implementing LN2 and closed loop refrigeration systems.
Cold traps are used to condense and freeze or “trap” water vapor. They are often used in a drying process for substation electrical transformer oil. A vacuum pumping system is used to lower the pressure in the transformer case and allow the water to vaporize.

The PM family represents our current primary offering of controllers and is the state of the art in precision control for critical thermal and other process control applications. The PM family has everything that you have come to expect in a system controller plus many new features.
In any test application that requires an altitude profile, the ESS, Inc. programmable altitude control system can be used to precisely control vacuum chamber pressure from ground level to an altitude of 170,000ft. A typical altitude testing chamber is comprised of a vacuum chamber, vacuum pump and a vacuum measurement instrument such as a mercury manometer.
Ultra Low Temperature (ULT) cold rooms can be used for short, medium or long term cold temperature storage of diverse materials from pharmaceuticals to ice core samples. ULT cold rooms typically have a storage temperature of between -80° C to -86° C. Cascade or “two stage” refrigeration plants are most commonly used to achieve these ultra low temperatures.
