Thermal Platform Optional Accessories
LN2 Delivery Hose
The optional LN2 delivery hose is used to transfer the expendable liquid nitrogen from the portable storage vessel or facility distribution source to the thermal platform. Standard LN2 delivery hoses come in 6′ (1.8M) lengths, are made from stainless steel and use the industry standard 1/2″ SAE flare female swivel fittings on both ends to fit the CGA-295 fitting. There are two types of insulation available for the LN2 delivery hose. One uses foam insulation and the other is vacuum insulated. Longer or shorter lengths are available as special order items.

LCO2 Delivery Hose
The optional LCO2 delivery hose is used to transfer the expendable liquid carbon dioxide from the portable storage vessel or facility distribution source to the thermal platform. Standard LCO2 delivery hoses come in 6′ (1.8M) lengths, are made from a Teflon core hose with stainless steel over-braid and use the industry standard CGA-320 fitting with a fine woven 140 micron stainless steel mesh filter and Teflon gasket on one end and a 1/4″ SAE female swivel flare fitting on the other end. The hose is covered with foam insulation. Longer or shorter lengths are available as special order items.

Hold Down Clamp
The optional hold down clamp is used to quickly and easily attach a device to be tested to the top of the thermal platform without having to make a custom fixture plate. The clamp is made from high quality aluminum and stainless steel, comes with a hex key wrench for making course vertical & horizontal adjustments, and a fine vertical adjusting screw with knurled knob & Teflon toggle pad for applying the hold down force to the device to be tested without marring the surface.

Adapter Plate
The adapter plate also known as a fixture plate is used to securely attach devices to be tested to the surface of the thermal plate. The adapter plate is supplied with an 18-8 stainless steel screw mounting kit and is attached to the threaded holes in the surface of the thermal plate. Holes can be drilled & tapped anywhere on the adapter plate for attaching single or multiple devices to it. The adapter plate is made from tool quality 1/4″ thick aluminum alloy plate and is precision ground for parallelism & flatness on both sides. It is plated with hard anodizing for durability and resistance to corrosion.

Dry Box Desiccator
The dry box desiccator is a lidded enclosure that attaches to the surface of the thermal platform to create a dry or “purged” environment around the device under test (DUT) during thermal testing that occurs below the dew point or freezing point of the moisture or humidity in the air. Humid air can condense in the form of liquid water on the surface of the DUT and thermal plate when the temperature falls below the dew point. Liquid water can form ice crystals on the exposed surfaces of the DUT if the temperature falls below the freezing point of water (32°F/0°C). Liquid water and ice crystals may damage the DUT. By enclosing the DUT in a purged enclosure, the moisture problems are mitigated. The dry box desiccator is made from a precision 304 stainless steel frame with ESD safe clear polycarbonate windows on all four sides and on the removable top cover. Silicone rubber grommets are supplied for the enclosure sides to allow DC bias & signal cabling to enter & exist the enclosure while still maintaining a positive purge pressure. A purge gas connection bung with 1/8″ female NPT thread is provided at the top rear of the enclosure. A low pressure source of dry air or gaseous nitrogen (GN2) is connected to the purge bung to maintain a slight positive pressure in the enclosure to keep moist air out. The top can be removed during purge to allow circuit “tuning” during test.

Low Pressure Purge Kit/High Pressure Purge Kit
Purge kits allow the dry box desiccator to be connected to a source of dry air or gaseous nitrogen (GN2). The low pressure kit is for a purge gas supply with a maximum of 100 PSIG (6.9 bar) and includes a flow meter, 10′ (3.0M) of flexible Nylon hose and all of the required hose connection fittings. The high pressure kit is similar to the low pressure kit but is for a purge gas supply with a maximum of 2000 PSIG (138 bar).
